The 2024 China-Europe Talent Forum Was Successfully Held

On October 15, the 2024 China-Europe Talent Forum was successfully held in Beijing. With the topic of " Bridging Continents: Fostering Future-fit Talent Development" the forum invited Chinese and foreign politicians, representatives of international organizations, Nobel Prize winners, well-known experts and scholars, and corporate leaders for in-depth exchanges and discussions to jointly explore China-Europe talent innovation cooperation. Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee Yin Li attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin delivered a video speech, and Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor Yin Yong presided over the opening ceremony. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Deng Li, Swiss Ambassador to China Bai Ruiyi, Director of the China International Publishing Group Du Zhanyuan, President of Peking University Gong Qiuhuang, and Chairman of the Board of Swiss Adecco Group Deng Jingxi, and other domestic and foreign guests made keynote speeches.

The forum's agenda included keynote speeches, project activities, results releases, and roundtable dialogues, and held six sub-forums around themes: Youth, Education, Science & Technology Talent, Culture, Economy and trade, and International Sports. Through various forms such as thematic speeches, special reports, and peak dialogues, the forum deeply discussed the key role of talents in the development of China-Europe relations and further promoted practical cooperation in the field of talents between all sectors of China and Europe.

2018 Nobel Prize winner in Physics, French physicist, Honorary Doctor of Peking University, and Professor at Peking University, Gérard Albert Mourou, delivered a keynote speech.

In the keynote speech session, 2018 Nobel Prize winner in Physics and French physicist Gérard Albert Mourou focused on sharing his research results. He pointed out that "chirped pulse amplification technology" is widely used in high-precision medical fields, has great potential in particle acceleration and clean energy production, and helps to solve space debris problems through high-density short pulses. Ultra-high-power laser technology will become a key force in promoting scientific and social development, bringing significant changes to medicine, energy, and space exploration.

Several important talent cooperation projects were launched or unveiled at the forum. The Beijing Municipal Talent Work Bureau, the Beijing Association for Science and Technology, and the China International Science and Technology Exchange Center jointly signed a memorandum of cooperation to support the landing of international science and technology organizations in Beijing, supporting the formation of an international science and technology organization cluster in Beijing, guiding high-level international science and technology exchange activities to be held in Beijing, strengthening service guarantees for international science and technology organizations and talents, and jointly promoting global science and technology talents to help build Beijing as an international science and technology innovation center. The Beijing Overseas Talents Center, relying on the "Connect Beijing · Global Innovation Service Network" platform, jointly established the "GNIS China-Europe Innovation Center" with Xicheng District, giving full play to the resource advantages of the New Power Financial Technology Center, the "Giant Port" National Specialized and Special New Small Giant Enterprise Service Platform, and the Putian Desheng Incubator, to build a broad stage for the innovation and entrepreneurship of young talents from both sides. The practice base of Peking University and the Swiss Adecco Group was officially unveiled, giving full play to the advantages of both parties, establishing a sound international talent training mechanism, and achieving a virtuous interaction between schools and enterprises through providing internship practice opportunities and professional internship guidance, career counseling, and other means, focusing on enhancing the global career development capabilities of outstanding young students.

In the results release session, The Adecco Group released the "2024 Global Workforce Report," which deeply analyzes the hot topics of global enterprises and workers, covering key topics such as employability, work practices, diversity and inclusion (DEI), employee welfare, and the impact of artificial intelligence on the labor market, providing cutting-edge views on labor force development trends, and providing important references for the future strategic planning of employers. The Beijing Institute of Talent Development Strategy, cooperated with the Springer Nature Group for research, and jointly released the "Global City Talent Viscosity Index Report 2024" with the Guanghua School of Management of Peking University and Beijing International Human Resources, assessing the talent development environment and talent attractiveness of 120 cities in 41 countries across 6 continents from six major dimensions: economic foundation, innovation potential, cultural openness, ecological health, social welfare, and public life; Beijing, with its strong innovation potential and excellent economic foundation, ranks fifth among the main global cities and becomes the only Chinese city to be in the top ten for five consecutive years.

Since the China-Europe Talent Forum was jointly founded by the Chinese Embassy in Switzerland and the Adecco Group in 2018, the forum has been successfully held for six sessions and has become an important bond to deepen China-Europe relations and promote exchange and cooperation. The holding of this session of the forum marks a new step in China-Europe talent cooperation, which will further expand Beijing's international influence in global talent exchange and the brand effect of the forum, contributing to Beijing's accelerated construction of an international exchange center and an international science and technology innovation center.
